How Do All-on-X Dental Implants Work?
During the All-on-X surgery, we remove any remaining natural teeth in your dental arch and then place your dental implants. We typically use 4 – 6, placing them at locations where the bone is naturally strong and thick. This approach allows the implants to support a new denture right away. That is right — you could arrive in our office with severe tooth loss and leave with a complete smile! After an adequate healing period, we will replace your temporary All-on-X denture with a permanent prosthetic.
Am I a Candidate for All-on-X Dental Implants?
You might be a suitable candidate for All-on-X treatment if:
- You are missing all or most of your teeth throughout one of your dental arches.
- You have adequate jawbone density to support dental implants. (Thanks to the unique placement strategy involved in All-on-X, most patients meet this requirement without a bone graft.)
- You have good habits that will support the long-term success of your new smile.
- You are healthy enough to undergo minor surgery.
Even if you are not sure whether you qualify for All-on-X, we encourage you to visit us for a consultation. Most adults can qualify for dental implants, either right away or after some preliminary care.
Benefits of All-on-X Dental Implants
All-on-X treatment offers some outstanding benefits:
- All-on-X dental implants provide a stable and secure foundation for replacement teeth, so you should be able to eat all your favorite foods with ease.
- You will be able to brush and care for your All-on-X implants almost just like natural teeth, which simplifies your oral hygiene routine and supports overall dental health.
- Your facial structure will remain supported, which helps preserve a youthful appearance and prevents the sunken look often associated with tooth loss.
- All-on-X implants can significantly boost your self-confidence by providing a natural-looking and attractive smile that you can show off without hesitation.
All-on-X vs. Traditional Dental Implants
Both All-on-X and traditional dental implants have their advantages. Here are some key differences between them:
- Treatment method: All-on-X typically requires just one surgery instead of two or more. This means that overall, the treatment is less invasive and faster. Plus, there is no waiting period between implant placement and restoration, whereas traditional implants may require a wait time of a few months.
- Versatility: All-on-X is exclusively for full-arch replacement, whereas traditional implants can replace any number of missing teeth.
- Stability: In some cases, traditional methods provide greater stability.
Our team can help you compare options and choose the one that best fits your circumstances.
