Invisalign Chelmsford
Invisalign clear aligners are incredibly popular right now among those looking for a less prominent treatment option for straightening teeth to enhance the appearance of one’s smile. Traditional metal braces are still available, but many patients prefer the virtual invisibility offered by Invisalign in Chelmsford.
Invisalign Benefits:
- Enhanced comfort
- Virtual invisibility
- Conveniently removable
- No food restrictions
Enhanced Comfort
A lot of thought went into the design of the Invisalign system. One consideration was the lack of comfort of alternate systems like metal wires and brackets that can sometimes get in the way of the tongue or cause difficulty in brushing and flossing.
Invisalign was designed with comfort in mind. Your aligners will be individually designed to precisely fit the unique contours of your teeth and mouth. The edges of the aligners are very smooth and will not rub uncomfortably against the soft tissues in your mouth.
Virtual Invisibility
One key selling point with Invisalign is that the system offers a great way of straightening teeth without being completely obvious about it. The clear plastic is virtually invisible and undetectable to others.
Conveniently Removable
Unlike fixed treatment options like traditional braces, Invisalign clear aligners are completely removable at any time. If you want to brush and floss, just remove them and pop them back in when you are ready. One caveat is that you must keep your aligners in place for 22 hours a day so that your teeth are shifted according to your treatment plan.
No Food Restrictions
Another thing that patients love about Invisalign is that there are no food restrictions. With traditional metal braces, you cannot eat certain foods like sticky and hard foods that could stick to, or damage, the metal wires and brackets. You can eat all of the foods and snacks that you love while being treated with Invisalign.
How Invisalign Works
The first step in getting Invisalign is taking part in a consultation with your dentist or orthodontist. If you make a good candidate for this treatment, scans and measurements will be taken of your teeth, mouth and gums. All of this information will be sent to a laboratory that will create your Invisalign aligners.
After a virtual modeling of your teeth is done, you will be shown an on-screen animation based upon the proposed treatment plan for your individual situation. It will display the precise set of tooth movements that lead to the results that you desire.
Although it is just a simulation, this will give you an opportunity to see what the completion of your treatment will be like. Your dentist or orthodontist can also go over details like how many sets of aligners will be required for your case.
At periodic intervals, normally every two weeks, you will be receiving a new set of Invisalign aligners to keep you on track with your individual treatment plan.
